Each spring, Pacific herring return to the cold waters off Vancouver Island by the millions to spawn, turning the coastline a milky turquoise and triggering one of the Pacific Northwest's great wildlife events, sea lions, eagles, and even humpback whales drawn in to feed on the bounty.
Woody was an Underwater Cinematographer on this IMAX production, diving on rebreathers in near-freezing water to film the spawn from below the surface, capturing behaviour rarely seen on camera, working silently among the herring without disturbing the feeding frenzy above.
