Nauticam underwater housing with RED V-Raptor cinema camera and dome port

RED V-RAPTOR/NAUTICAM UNDERWATER SYSTEM KIT

Woody's primary system is built around the RED V-Raptor, a Netflix-approved 8K cinema camera, paired with a Nauticam underwater housing capable of shooting everything from sweeping wide-angle to extreme macro.

auticam Universal Cinema Housing, an underwater housing compatible with Arri, Sony, RED and Phantom cinema cameras

NAUTICAM UNIVERSAL CINEMA HOUSING

For feature film and TVC work, Woody can deploy the Nauticam Universal Cinema Housing, which is configurable for a range of cinema cameras, including Arri, Sony, RED, and Phantom. The system pairs with cinema lenses fitted with focus motors and surface control cables, giving topside crew direct control over focus and camera settings during the dive.

Nauticam WACP-1 wide angle conversion port, an underwater optic for close-focus wide-angle cinematography

Nauticam WACP -1 Optic

a water-corrected optic that delivers a sharp image from corner to corner, even in low light. It also allows the lens to focus extremely close to a subject, making both wide-angle and macro shots possible on the same dive.

Nauticam 230mm optical glass dome, an underwater optic for wide-angle and split over/under shots

230mm Optical glass dome

The 230mm Optical Glass Dome is used for rectilinear wide-angle work and split, over- and underwater shots, capturing both above and below the water in a single frame. Its large surface area keeps a clean waterline across the shot, while the glass construction holds sharp corner detail on wide lenses.

Nauticam EMWL extended macro wide lens, a specialised underwater optic for wide-angle macro cinematography

Nauticam extended wide-angle macro eMWL

For extreme macro work, the Nauticam EMWL allows a wide-angle macro lens to be positioned in spaces a large dome simply can't reach, immersing the audience directly in the environment.

The full system is supplied complete with monitor, lenses, lighting and all required cabling and support arms.

UNDERWATER Communications

OTS Guardian full face mask, used for underwater diver communications

UNDERWATER COMMUNICATIONS

Without diver communications, directing talent underwater usually means hand signals and pre-briefed cues. This system allows full-duplex communication between two divers and the surface, giving directors live, real-time direction and creative feedback during a shoot — the same as working with talent on a topside set.

The full face masks can also be fitted with an underwater recorder, capturing clean dialogue directly from the diver for presenter-led shoots.

The kit contains the following:

  • 2 x Full Face Masks with Recorders

  • 1 x Surface Station

  • 2 x Buddy Phones for In-Water Divers

Alongside diver communications, Woody operates a custom-built wireless video transmission system that sends a live feed from the underwater camera directly to a surface monitor, allowing directors and clients to watch the shot unfold in real time without leaving the boat. Combined with the underwater communications kit, this gives productions a complete director's station for underwater work, live picture and live voice, both relayed straight to the surface.
