There's a New Mooring in Town

A short documentary capturing the installation of environmentally friendly moorings in Sydney Harbour, designed to protect fragile seagrass meadows from the damage caused by traditional swing-mooring chains. Shot on location at Balmoral Beach for SIMS' Project Restore initiative, the film follows the process from above and below the waterline, combining underwater cinematography with aerial drone footage to show the full scale of the harbour restoration effort.

Serving as both Director of Photography and drone operator, Woody captured the installation process both underwater and from the air, pairing intimate seabed footage of the new mooring systems with sweeping aerial shots of Sydney Harbour, illustrating how a small piece of marine infrastructure can have a meaningful impact on protecting the harbour's seagrass ecosystems.
