LOVE AND LIGHT
2024 ACS Gold - Ron Taylor AM ACS & Valerie Taylor AM Wildlife and Nature
Love and Light takes its name from one of the natural world's most extraordinary displays, the underwater light show performed by the Giant Australian Cuttlefish during their winter mating aggregation in Whyalla, South Australia, a behaviour found nowhere else on Earth. The project was developed as a projection art concept for a Vivid Sydney pitch, pairing this underwater footage with an original score by musician Troels Thomasen.
Woody was Director of Photography on the project, filming the cuttlefish's courtship displays and colour-shifting behaviour for large-scale projection, with Dr Alex Schnell as science consultant. The film went on to win Gold at the 2024 ACS NSW/ACT Awards in the Wildlife and Nature category.
