‘SECRETS OF THE OCTOPUS’

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC AND DISNEY+

Executive produced by James Cameron and narrated by Paul Rudd, Secrets of the Octopus is a three-part National Geographic series exploring the extraordinary intelligence, behaviour and social lives of octopuses around the world, filmed over 200 days across reefs and coastlines spanning the globe.

Woody was core underwater crew on the production for 18 months, one of the longest and most demanding shoots of his career. Personally shooting sequences across Australia's Great Barrier Reef and Victoria, Indonesia's Lembeh Strait and Bunaken, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Working across cinematography, drone, and 1st AC throughout the production, he spent months earning the trust and patience required to document behaviour that few cameras had ever captured — an animal capable of transforming its entire body shape, colour, and texture in an instant.
